Why artificial turf?

Here are some of the most asked questions by consumers to help you.

Many people enjoy gardening but NOT the time and effort it takes to maintain a real grass lawn…

Why buy a SPRINGLAWN to replace traditional grass?

Artificial grass looks and feels like traditional grass but will save you water, time and money. Just think how many hours you get back over the next 10 years when you never need to wait till the grass is dry, cut it once or twice in the day, empty out the cuttings, sweep up the loose cuttings that get blown all over the rest of your garden. No need to water it, feed it, scarify it, treat it for moss or weeds, cut or strim the edges. No more bald patches where you were a bit heavy handed with the machinery you have or where the shade or drainage won’t allow the grass to grow.

You can sell that lawnmower and tools to pay for your artificial grass that will look great every day of the year.

When installed professionally, artificial grass provides a level, secure & stable footing, reducing the risk of tripping and falling – particularly for the elderly and people with disabilities. Many older householders love their grass but can no longer manage the manual maintenance.

Most recently we have seen an increase of the use of artificial grass around Hot tubs and pools! No more wet, grassy, dirty feet trailing debris into the water or into the house!! Many landscapers use artificial grass around sunken trampolines! Making them safer for kids to use and lessening the damage to existing grass around them.

What’s the difference between Springlawn Synthetic Grass and the old fashioned artificial turf?

The look and feel, colour and texture of our next-generation synthetic grasses have transformed old artificial turf into new age grass. It looks and feels like real grass but without all the maintenance hassles. Its acceptance has exponentially increased not only because of its look and feel but its time-saving and money saving abilities.

How is Springlawn Synthetic Grass secured down?

Normally it is pinned around the edges or nailed into treated timber depending on the application. Many curly thatched base grasses do not require any infill what so ever, however, it can be in-filled with silica sand or Pet Fill options. This provides the synthetic lawn with significant weight that will prevent any movement, help drainage and prevent against wear from pets.  It can also be glued directly to a solid base like slabs, concrete or tarmac.

Will the Springlawn Synthetic Grass harbour any bugs?

Our synthetic grass has no organic value, therefore, the bugs have nothing to feed on and will move onto a garden with real grass. Ants have a hard time coming up through the drainage holes and will generally find an area outside the grass that has less resistance. Synthetic grass creates a pest free environment, also discouraging fleas & ticks.

Is Springlawn Synthetic Grass mould resistant?

Springlawn Grass has been specifically designed to eliminate mould as a problem. The synthetic grass fibres and rubber backing can’t absorb water, and the base is constructed to drain any excess water away therefore preventing mould and mildew. In fact, natural grass supports the growth of mould to a far greater degree.

How long will Springlawn Grass last?

All Springlawn Grass products are manufactured to exhaustive international standards and come with a 7 or 10 year guarantee depending on which grass is chosen, but with the correct installation and maintenance it’s proven that your lawn will for many years more. Is there any maintenance involved?

Springlawn grass will never need watering, fertiliser or mowing. Heavily used front or back yard areas will require an occasional brush with a heavy plastic bristle broom to freshen the look and feel. If leaves should fall onto your lawn, they should be simply removed with either a rake, outdoor broom or blower. If there is any weed growth around the grass, these can be easily sprayed with a standard weed killer. Weed killer will not damage or discolour your lawn.

Will Synthetic Grass fade from the sun?

Springlawn grass has a UV stabiliser specially designed to reduce fading. It has a 7-10 year warranty, but you can expect it to last 15-20 years and fade less than 4% from its original colour. Our Scottish weather may never have an impact on fading unlike many other countries in Europe, the Middle East and Far East where prolonged sunlight and temperatures can affect synthetic grass.

Does Synthetic Grass stain?

Springlawn Grass is made from polypropylene or polyethylene synthetic yarn which have a high resistance to staining including paint stains.

Any spills should be promptly cleaned by scraping, mopping or wiping. Any residual stain can be removed with a warm mild solution of granular household detergent or any low foaming detergent for fine fabrics.
